 New Template Instructions

As promised, here is the update on how to create your new Home Page within the new skin created for your ForeTees account.  Also, your members will see an announcement concerning the new skin when they first login after you have activated it under Club Options.  We have included that in this email, so you are aware of what they will see.

(Note: if you are a newer account that is already using the new skin, your members will not see this message.  However, as a new account the options below for setting up a new announcement page will apply to you.)

Please be aware that just because the new skin is available to activate beginning Monday, April 9, you have until June 1 of this year to make the changeover.  In fact, because of what might be a high demand next week for switching over to the new skin, we might suggest you not feel the necessity for doing it immediately.

New Templates for the Home Page

Begin setting up the new template process by going to Tools > Announcements and you will see two new menu items, Create New Announcement Page and Manage Non-Active Announcement Pages.  Upon selecting Create New Announcement Page, you will be presented with a list of available templates from which to choose.  These templates are like empty announcement pages. From this page a user can preview a template and ultimately select one. When one is chosen we create a copy of it in your club's folder.  It is then accessible under the other new menu item entitled, Manage Non-Active Announcement Pages.

The Manage Non-Active Announcement Pages feature will list all the pages the club currently has in 'staging mode' and then these pages can be edited, viewed, or published live to your announcement page.  Next to each page listed are three buttons.  Edit will open the page up in the online editor and allow you to make changes and save them.  Saving a page in the staging mode only saves it in the system.  It does not make it live to the members.  The Preview button will open the page in a new window or tab so you can see exactly how it will look to your members.  And, the Publish button will backup your current live announcement page and copy the selected page from the staging to your live site and make it active and visible to the members.

Adding Content to Your New Announcement Page

When creating your new announcement page you might want to copy the content from your current page in order to expedite the process.  To more easily do this, follow these steps (after you have saved your new empty announcement page):

1.  Go to Tools > Announcements and select Manage Backup Copies.

2.  Select the Preview option from the entry at the top of the list (the latest version).  This will open your current announcement page in a new window.

3.  Return to the window where you selected the Preview option.

4.  Go to Tools > Announcements and select Manage Non-Active Announcement Page.  Select the Edit option for the new empty announcement page that you created earlier.

5.  For best results, click on the Full Screen Mode icon in the editor menu (top row, furthest to the right).  Click this icon again to return to normal mode and to save the changes.  NOTE: Saving changes to this page does not Publish the page, it simply saves the file on the system.  You must Publish the page as described above when you are ready to go live with it.

6.  While editing the new page, you can navigate between the 2 windows to copy and paste content from the current page.

We hope you will enjoy using this new technology to create announcement pages that will be useful and meaningful to your members.  This page can be an important tool to your operation by keeping your members up-to-date with activities in your specific area of the club.  Please let us know if you have problems or questions by contacting us at prosupport@foretees.com or by calling 651-765-6006.
