July 2009
On the Tee with ForeTees Welcome to the second edition of "On the Tee with ForeTees". We hope everyone's summer is going well. The professionals up north are certainly busy with the 2009 season while those of you from the south are enjoying some well-deserved R & R. Remember to stay in touch with us if you have some news to share. Simply contact me at jock@foretees.com. We would like to hear about any innovative ways that you have found to use ForeTees or perhaps you would like to tell us about an honor one of your staff members has received. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to your fellow staff members. Thank you and enjoy!
ForeTees VP Fires Hole-in-One
Certain members of the ForeTees staff have persuaded me to add the following story as an example of the type of news we would like to share about you and your
staff. Please note however that this is a true story.
Jock Olson, Vice President of Marketing and New Business Development for ForeTees, fired his second career ace on Saturday, July 11, at Bearpath Country Club in Eden Prairie, MN. The exciting shot came on the 184-yard, eighth hole, using a #5 Cobra hybrid. Jock's first ace was 37 years ago as a college senior playing in an event at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids, IA. ForeTees is proud to have both of these country clubs using its ForeTees system at their respective facilities. Please let us know if someone on your golf staff has had an honor or accomplishment that you would like us to share with our approximately 350 clubs across the country.
ForeTees' Newest Features
Since the last newsletter our staff in St. Paul has been busy improving ForeTees by adding features which are going to make the use of your
online system even better than before. Here are a few items you should know about:
The Improved Check-in Process - Using some of the latest technologies, ForeTees has developed a new method of processing the player check-ins on the current day's tee sheet. With this new method, the tee sheet will no longer have to refresh itself every time you check a player in. Now, when you check a player in, or out, the image next to the player will change instantly without updating the entire tee sheet. Daily Rounds Report - This new report will provide a breakdown of the rounds played for each day of the month that you select. Look for this new report under the 'Reports' tab, labeled 'Daily Rounds For Month'. Lesson Book Improvements - When viewing a lesson book the days on the calendar are now color coded to indicate if lesson times are available. Green indicates Yes and red indicates No. The color-coded dates start with the current day (today) and continue for the next 100 days. Also, on this page we have added a lesson pro drop-down selection box. This will enable you to quickly and easily switch from one teaching pro to the next while maintaining the current date selection. Automatic Calendar Updates in Email Notifications - In response to requests from many members we recently added an iCalendar attachment to all email notifications for new tee times and event registrations. Please note that these notifications do not work on BlackBerry devices. For more information on the newest ForeTees features, please click on the "New Features" tab at the top of the home or tee time page.
A Tip from the Staff at ForeTees
We receive many calls regarding members not receiving their email notifications. The reason is often that the emails were bounced back to
ForeTees. When this occurs numerous times, we set a flag in the member's account. We refer to this as the "bounced flag". Once the bounced
flag is set for a member, we no longer send emails to them until the problem is resolved. This is often the result of a full mailbox, an
invalid email address, or a spam filter. There is a method to use to clear these bounced flags from the ForeTees system at your club. Here
are the steps to follow:
First, login as an admin user. Next, click on the Member's Tab. Now, click on the Email Report tab. This report shows all members and their corresponding email address, with bounced flags set. You may use the button at the top to clear all bounced flags. In order to clear bounced flags by individual, the administrator must login to the individual member's account. The member's bounced email flag can then be cleared from this screen. If a member's bounced emails do not appear in either of these areas, it would be helpful to have the member enter "auto-sender@foretees.com" into their contact's list, so the emails from ForeTees can get through without being bounced. If you have further questions on this procedure, please call the ForeTees' support line at 651-765-6006.
ForeTees Statistics
In this month's issue our ForeTees statistical information involves fivesomes. Obviously, many private clubs throughout the country allow
fivesomes, but many don't. Out of our approximately 350 private clubs, 59% of those clubs allow fivesome play. This number represents a
little over 200 ForeTees clubs.
ForeTees Biography
Ben Haubach, ForeTees Professional Support Specialist
Ben Haubach is surely a name familiar to many of our ForeTees clients. Ben has been with the company since 2006 and does an excellent job with our customer service and support. Ben was involved in the golf professional business when he served as an assistant professional for six seasons beginning in 2000. Ben spent three years at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, MN, and three years at North Oaks GC in North Oaks, MN. Fortunately, for ForeTees Ben had a desire to join the company and has served our customers extremely well for the last four years. Ben was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and moved to Brookfield, WI, in 1982. In 1999, Ben arrived in Minneapolis to attend Anoka Technical College where he received an Associate's Degree in Golf Facilities Management. Ben's time in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin surely explains why he is a Packers and Steelers fan. Fortunately, we still let him reside in Minnesota, more than likely, due to his love for the Minnesota Twins. Ben's favorite hockey team is the Stanley Cup Champion's Pittsburgh Penguins and in college football he leans toward the Wisconsin Badgers. Needless to say, Ben is a big sports fan. Ben is a newly wed. He and his lovely wife, Christine exchanged vows last August. Now, Ben is the proud stepfather of two children Maggie, 10 and Drew, 13. Ben's hobbies include golf, soccer, baseball, football, hockey, bowling, tennis and more. After all, we did say he was a big sports fan. Thanks, Ben, for all you do for ForeTees and we know you will faithfully serve our customers for years to come.
See you "Down the Middle"!
